<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering metal from scrap which can be executed at low cost, and of which the number of steps can be reduced.SOLUTION: A method for recovering metal from a positive electrode material for lithium ion batteries comprises the steps of: mixing, in a liquid electrolyte consisting of an aqueous solution of an inorganic compound containing a mineral acid, powder or scrap in particle forms which consists of the concentrate of a positive electrode material separated and recovered from lithium ion battery wastes and/or a positive electrode material for lithium ion batteries, and includes Li and at least one kind of metal selected from Ni, Co and Mn, thereby preparing a suspension; and performing an electrolysis on the suspension in which the scrap is distributed in the liquid electrolyte, whereby the metal included in the scrap is recovered. When performing an electrolysis, among processes of (a), (b) and (c), the process (a) is included on the condition that the scrap includes Ni and/or Co, whereas the processes (b) and (c) are included on the condition that the scrap includes Mn: (a) the process of causing at least one metal component of Ni, Co and a Ni-Co alloy to electrodeposit on a cathode by the electrolysis; (b) the process of causing a Mn oxide to electrodeposit on an anode by the electrolysis; and (c) the process of producing a Mn-containing electrolytic precipitate in the liquid electrolyte by the electrolysis.</p> |
