PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, etc. which can embed in an image file text data recognized by a character recognition process, and which searches a file with text data embedded therein for characters, the image forming apparatus being capable of embedding text data in an easy-to-see state without generating irregularities in invertedly displayed portions when characters and non-character portions are displayed invertedly in a character region of an extracted character string.SOLUTION: A character recognition process is executed for an image read by reading means 14 to separate the character string contained in each line into a plurality of character groups by the line, and determine a certain font size with each line as a unit. Assuming the direction of the character string to be in the x-direction, an embedding process is executed for each of the plurality of separated character groups such that the text data in each character group is embedded in a determined common font size in an image file, using the x-direction coordinate position of the leading character of the character group as the reference. |
