摘要 <p>A predetermined spatial locale is selectively operationally stimulated through local heating by exposing magnetic particle(s) associated with such local to alternating magnetic field parameters of which are chosen to generate hysteretic losses in magnetic particle(s). When different types of particles are associated with different locales such as different biological cells, different cells can be accessed and stimulated independently from one another. Switching between stimulation of first and second types of cells is carried out by changing parameters of stimulating magnetic field, while optionally maintaining the field strength-frequency product substantially constant. Embodiments facilitate multiplexed release of chemical payloads, triggering changes in electrical polarization, and changing a shape of a unit placed at the chosen locale.</p>
