PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device capable of surely preventing the occurrence of half lock. ! SOLUTION: A steering device includes a fastening mechanism of fastening a first side plate 17 to a second side plate, and a gear lock mechanism 33 of attaining gear lock with fastening of the fastening mechanism. The gear lock mechanism 33 includes a fixed tooth row 41 fixed to the first side plate 17, and a gear 43 supported on a fastening shaft 21 in a rotatable and inclinable manner. A movable tooth row 42 in the outer periphery of the gear 43 is always fitted into the fixed tooth row 41. A gear 43 is clamped in the axial direction by a pair of clamp members (a fastening member 38 and a washer 44) so as to incline a second tooth trace 42L of the movable tooth row 42 to a first tooth trace 41L of the fixed tooth row 41, and gear lock the gear 43 to the fixed tooth row 41 [figure 4(b)].
