Tire with chafer and toe guard

A pneumatic tire having a pair of spaced apart bead components (6), a connecting carcass (3) between the bead components, a pair of sidewalls (5) overlying the carcass, and a rubber chafer portion (9) adjacent to each of the sidewalls and positioned around at least a portion of each of the bead components and intended for contacting a rigid rim of a wheel is disclosed. At least one of the rubber chafer portions (9) comprises a radially innermost toe guard (9A) and a chafer (9B) adjacent to a radially outer end of the toe guard (9A). The toe guard (9A) has the radially outer end (10) disposed at a sidewall axially outer surface. The ratio of the modulus of elasticity of the toe guard (9A) to the modulus of elasticity of the chafer (9B) is in the range of from 3 to 10.
