The present invention relates to an electronic device and a method for controlling the electronic device. The electronic device according to an embodiment presets fingerprint information of a user, compares the preset fingerprint information with a recognized fingerprint, when a fingerprint of the user is recognized, while being installed on a certain cradle formed inside a vehicle, judges whether the user is located on a passenger seat of driver seat inside the vehicle, and display a preset screen on a display part upon the same.
