<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid reducing furnace capable of efficiently radiating microwaves to the inside of the solid reducing furnace. <P>SOLUTION: In the solid reducing furnace, a briquette is formed by mixing iron oxide raw material with reducing material and is heated by radiation heat from a burner and a furnace wall to manufacture reduced iron. The solid reducing furnace includes one or a plurality of waveguides inserted into the solid reducing furnace to introduce microwaves for heating the briquette, a cooling mechanism which is provided on the outer periphery of each of the waveguides for cooling the waveguides, and a heat insulation refractory material provided on the outer periphery of the cooling mechanism.
