The present disclosure is directed to a process for the production of highly degradation resistant rolling mill cast rolls as well as to the rolls produced through this process. More specifically, the invention is related to the introduction of sulfur, as a linking element, to high chrome white cast iron and multi-component white cast iron, for the purpose of forming sulfide phase particles in the microstructure in a controlled way, thus allowing the use of this type of material in the manufacture of rolling mill cast rolls with a high service performance.
