The invention relates to hard laminated coating materials which are resistant to wear in dry medium, employed for coating the active surfaces of moulds used in thermoplastics injection in order to increase their operating life. According to the invention, the laminated materials are made of alternating quasi-stoichiometric carbides, one layer being made of a high-entropy alloy carbide and the other one of silicon carbide, the thin layers being obtained through a method of physical vapour phase deposition such as magnetron sputtering or cathodic arc, the total thickness of the laminated materials ranging between 2...5μm, the thicknesses of the pairs of thin layers ranging between 10...30 nm and the ratio between the thicknesses of individual layers having values in the range of 1...4, where the laminated materials exhibit the following characteristics: high adhesion to the metal substrate, the value of normal critical forces upon scratch adhesion test ranges between 42...50 N, having Vickers micro hardness numbers in the range of 32...38 GPa, friction coefficients in dry media < 0.15 and wear rates < 2 x 10mmNm.
|
