The present invention relates to a method for coating a metal on a surface of a substrate using catechol polymer and, more specifically, to the method for coating a metal on a surface of a nonconductor with an electroless plating method using catechol polymer. According to the present invention, the method for coating a metal on a surface of a substrate with an electroless plating method using catechol polymer can uniformly coat a metal, be applied to a substrate which is coated by an electroless plating method without limit, and reduce manufacturing costs as a manufacturing process is easy by primarily coating catechol polymer on a substrate to replace a first plating process with a catalyzed process using a precious metal catalyst such as palladium, platinum, or the like in a conventional electroless plating method or nickel.
