The invention relates to a method for treating laundry with a foam from a solution in a washing machine with a drum (2), having openings in its cylindrical part, disposed horizontally to rotate in a lye container (1) for washing solution; a drainage system (20) disposed on the base of the lye container (2); a drive motor (14) for the drum (2); a heating device (13) for heating washing solution and a device (16) for supplying air into the washing solution in the lower region between the lye container and the drum, said device being switched independently of the drum (2) and is made to be controlled by a control circuit (9, 12, 15), comprising a programmable controller and a sensor for determining hydrostatic pressure in the lye container. The method is characterised by the following steps: a) generating the foam by supplying air into the washing solution by means of the device (16), the foam being able to pass into the drum through the opening therein; b) regulating foam generation by the control circuit (9, 12, 15), the foam being generated in a quantity sufficient for the foam in the drum to reach a height of 1/3 to 2/3 of an interior diameter of the drum (2); c) rotating the drum (2) with rate Ubetween 30 to 80 rpm, wherein step c) is carried out after steps a) an b) or simultaneously with them. |
