An artificial lawn (20), in particular for an artificial grass sports field is disclosed. The lawn comprises a substrate (25) and integral, elongate artificial fibres (12) extending upwards between and parallel to the substrate (25). The substrate (25) is formed so that protrusions extend upward and between the artificial fibres (12) in order to provide support to the fibres and a dampening effect that would normally be provided by granular materials. The lawn (20) may be provided in interconnecting modular elements that are joined together to form the surface. |
