Disclosed are a display device and a control method. The display device according to the present invention comprises: a communication part performing communication with a voice recognition device that recognizes a spoken voice of a user; an input part to which the spoken voice of the user is inputted; a display part for displaying recognition result information about the spoken voice received from the voice recognition device; and a processor which sends a connection request information to the voice recognition device to connect with the voice recognition device if the display device is powered on, and sends voice information about the spoken voice to the voice recognition device via the communication part if the spoken voice is inputted via the input part. Accordingly, the display device can minimize the time required for entering a voice recognition mode.
