PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for a gas diffusion electrode which not only prevents a solid polymer membrane from being damaged but also has low electric resistance, and also to provide a gas diffusion electrode using the same, a membrane-electrode assembly, and a solid polymer fuel cell.SOLUTION: A base material for a gas diffusion electrode includes: an acquired conductive layer containing an acquired conductive fiber made of organic resin containing conductive particles; and a congenital conductive layer of which raw material itself contains a congenital conductive fiber. The congenital conductive fiber is preferable to be a carbon fiber or metal fiber. Moreover, in the gas diffusion electrode, a catalyst is carried on the base material for the gas diffusion electrode. Furthermore, a membrane-electrode assembly or a solid polymer fuel cell is equipped with the base material for the gas diffusion electrode. |
