PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of automatically switching a double monochromatic method and a single monochromatic method according to wavelength characteristics of monochromatic light to be measured.SOLUTION: A spectrophotometer 10 includes a controller 400 for changing the wavelength of monochromatic light 22 emitted from a spectrometer 200 from a measurement start wavelength to a measurement end wavelength by a predetermined length to calculate absorbance of a sample 30 for each wavelength. The controller 400 switches the measurement state of the spectrometer 200 into a double monochromatic measurement state when absorbance exceeds a predetermined threshold, and switches it into a single monochromatic measurement state when absorbance is equal to or less than the predetermined threshold.
