摘要 Disclosed herein is a microorganism capable of producing ethane-1,2-diol from D-xylose, and a method for producing ethane-1,2-diol using the same. More specifically, the present invention relates to an engineered Escherichia coli (E. coli) prepared by knocking out a D-xylose isomerase gene and/or an aldehyde dehydrogenase gene within the genomic DNA of E. coli and transforming an expression vector including a D-xylose dehydrogenase gene into the E. coli, and an efficient method for producing ethane-1,2-diol from D-xylose using the engineered E. coli.
