In the first frame period and the second frame period, compensation processing for compensating the voltage applied to the liquid crystal element is performed when an image in the first frame period and an image in the second frame period are determined as still images after comparison between the image in the first frame period and the image in the second frame period and when the absolute value of the voltage applied to the liquid crystal element in the first frame period and the absolute value of the voltage applied to the liquid crystal element in the second frame period are different.</p>
