The furnace has a drum (3) that is provided in the interior of furnace, and housing (1) that is provided with an opening for to-be-coiled strip. A movable flap (5) partially closes the furnace opening. A roller (10) is displaced to or away from furnace drum, for securing the coiled strip end. The movable flap (5) is rigid and rotates about an axis of rotation (6) and the roller forms a movable flap (7) with suspension (9). The movable flap (7) is rigid and rotates about an axis of rotation. The movable flaps close the furnace opening. An independent claim is included for a method for winding strip in coiling furnace.
