A combined power apparatus (1) combines a Rankine cycle apparatus (3) that includes an expansion machine for expanding steam to generate power, and a binary cycle apparatus (4) that recovers thermal energy contained in the expanded steam and uses this thermal energy to generate power. A controller (12) adjusts the amount of thermal energy recovered from the Rankine cycle apparatus (3) by the binary cycle apparatus (4) so that the temperature of steam after being expanded by the expansion machine of the Rankine cycle apparatus (3) becomes 100°C or higher and/or the pressure of steam becomes atmospheric pressure or higher.
