<p>Methods and apparatus for encoding infonnation on a magnetic stripe (408) of a transaction card are disclosed. According to one aspect, a transaction card includes a first surface and a second surface that substantially opposes the first surface. The second surface has a magnetic stripe (408). A first representation (448a) of a first pattern and a second representation (448b) of the first pattern can be encoded on the magnetic stripe (408). In one embodiment, the first representation (448a) can be encoded beginning at approximately a first distance (P1=P) from a first edge (440) of the second surface, and the second representation (448b) can be encoded to within approximately the first distance (P2=P) from a second edge (444) of the second surface.</p> |
