An apparatus for controlling steering recovery of an electric power steering device and a method therefor are disclosed. The apparatus for controlling steering recovery of an electric power steering device comprises: a recovery timing decision unit deciding an application timing of auxiliary torque in accordance with column torque inputted from a torque sensor; a recovery torque calculation unit receiving the vehicle speed and a steering angle from a vehicle speed sensor and a steering angle sensor and calculating recovery torque based on a table in accordance with the vehicle speed and the steering angle; an LKAS processing unit processing demand torque inputted from a lane keeping assisting device; and a recovery command calculation unit applying the steering direction inputted from the steering angle sensor with respect to one among the recovery torque and the demand torque in accordance with an input state of the demand torque from the LKAS processing unit and the application timing decided in the recovery timing decision unit to calculated a recovery command.
