Described is a driving device for an impeller (2) in a turbomachine (1), comprising an electric motor that can be controlled using a frequency converter (4) connected to an AC system. In order to create advantageous driving conditions, the electric motor is designed as a brushless permanent magnet synchronous motor (3) comprising permanent magnets inside the rotor, the frequency converter (4) controls the synchronous motor (3) at a frequency exceeding the system frequency, and the synchronous motor (3) drives the impeller (2) via a step-down gear unit (7) that is connected between the synchronous motor and the impeller. |
