<p>An oil filter containing a housing, a cap, a cap reinforcement, an anti-drain valve and an overflow valve, and a filter element including a filter material positioned between an upper end cap and a lower end cap. The lower end cap of the filter element is spring-loaded, relative to the housing, in the direction in which the filter element is pressed against the cap reinforcement. The central portion of the upper end cap is provided with two axially-arranged annular elements which protrude outwardly from the filter element to different heights, and which are connected to one another by means of ribs, forming overflow valve channels. An inner annular element has a greater height and presses against the cap reinforcement, defining a gap between the cap reinforcement and an outer surface of the upper end cap, said gap being necessary for oil to pass through to the filter material; the height of an outer annular element is less than that of the inner annular element by an amount which defines a gap between the cap reinforcement and the outer annular element, said gap being necessary for oil to pass through to the overflow valve. In accordance with the invention, the overflow valve and the anti-drain valve are arranged in parallel in the oil filter, thus precluding filtered particles from entering an engine during a cold start.</p> |
