<p>SURGICAL FASTENER A surgical fastening system, comprising: a plurality of surgical fasteners (56), each surgical fastener (56) including a backspan (60), a pair of legs (62) and a contact pad (64a, 64b), the backspan (60) and pair of legs (62) at least partially formed from an electrically conductive material, the contact pad (64a, 64b) having a portion formed from an electrically conductive material; an energy source (102) electrically connected to at least one of the plurality of surgical fasteners (56), the energy source (102) generating a current; an indicating unit (104) electrically connected to the contact pad (64a, 64b) of at least one of the plurality of surgical fasteners (56); wherein, upon contact of at least one of the pair of legs (62) with the portion of the contact pad (64a, 64b) formed from an electrically conductive material, the indicating unit (104) generates a signal indicating the formation of the at least one surgical fastener (56) of the plurality of surgical fasteners (56).</p> |
