PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite material that has an excellent heat conductivity.SOLUTION: Provided is a composite material characterized in comprising a matrix phase formed of a heat conductive filler that has a tabular or fibrous shape, and a resin phase that is oriented in a tabular or fibrous shape within the matrix phase and dispersed in an isolated island-shape. The production method of said composite material is characterized that by compressing a mixture containing a resin particle and a heat conductive filler, a resin phase that is formed of the resin particle by deformation, is dispersed in an isolated island-shape within a matrix phase that is formed of the heat conductive filler.
