The present invention is to provide a miniaturized electrical connector equipped with a floating structure. The invention includes: a fixed housing (8a); a movable housing (8b) performing relative displacement with respect to the fixed housing (8a); and a socket terminal (9) in contact with a plug connector (2) and fixed to the fixed housing (8a) and the movable housing (8b). The socket terminal (9) has a first expansion section (11a) extending from the side of the fixed housing (8a) along insert and extract direction (Z) of the plug connector (2), a folding back portion (11b) continuous to the first extension portion (11a), a second expansion section (11c) continuous to the folding back portion (11b) and extending along insert and extract direction (Z) to the side of the movable housing (8a), a moving part (11) elastically supporting the movable housing (8b) to enable relative displacement with respect to the fixed housing (8a), a base portion (12) fixed to the movable housing (11b) and continuous with the second extension (11c) of the moving parts (11), and a front contact portion and a rear contact portion extending from the base portion (12) along the insert and extract direction (Z) and in contact with a plug terminal (7). This invention forms a notch portion (12c) opposite to the second extension (11c) and the folding back portion (11b) in the base portion (12) and side surface adjacent to the movable portion (11), and moves the moving part (11) to place to squeeze it into the inside of the notch (12c). In this way, the electrical connector (1) can be reduced in size in the widthwise direction (Y). |
