A box made of coated sheet material comprises a body and a lid, each consisting of a main panel 20 or 21 and outer wall-forming panels 23, 24 and a strip forming inner wallforming panels 27, 28, the outer panels being seated to the lower part of the strip with the coated surfaces of the inner and outer panels face to face, and the remaining portion of the strip providing a neck to which the outer panels of the lid are sealed after the box has been filled. Gussets may be provided between adjacent panels 23, 24. Tab extensions 30 on the inner panels 27, 28 are folded inwards and sealed to the main panel 21 of the lid. The lid may be hinged to the body or comprise a second unit. In the latter case the tabs 30 may be omitted and the upper edges of the inner panels formed by the strip sealed between opposed portions of an upstanding bead in the periphery of the panel 21. Also, when the lid is a separate unit the outer panels of the body and lid may be provided with out-turned flanges which are sealed together.</p> |
