Collaboration of device resources

Computing devices can collaborate in order to take advantage of various components distributed across those devices. In various embodiments, image information captured by multiple devices can be used to identify and determine the relative locations of various persons and objects near those devices, even when not every device can view those persons or objects. In some embodiments, one or more audio or video capture elements can be selected based on their proximity and orientation to an object to be captured. In some embodiments, the information captured from the various audio and/or video elements can be combined to provide three-dimensional imaging, surround sound, and other such capture data.

1. A computing device, comprising:
one or more processors; a camera; a microphone; and memory including instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the computing device to:
capture first image data using the camera and first audio data using the microphone;obtain respective second image data and respective second audio data from each of one or more other computing devices;select at least one device, from among the computing device and the one or more other computing devices, as a designated image data capturing device based at least in part upon comparing the first image data and the respective second image data from each of the one or more other computing devices;select at least one device, from among the computing device and the one or more other computing devices, as a designated audio data capturing device based at least in part upon comparing the first audio data and the respective second audio data from each of the one or more other computing devices; andobtain third image data from the at least one device selected as the designated image data capturing device and third audio data from the at least one device selected as the designated audio capturing device,wherein at least one unselected device, from among the computing device and the one or more other computing devices, also obtains the third image data while at least one camera of the at least one unselected device is deactivated, andwherein at least one unselected device, from among the computing device and the one or more other computing devices, also obtains the third audio data while at least one microphone of the at least one unselected device is deactivated.
