The present invention relates to a laundry treatment machine and a method for operating the same. The method for operating the laundry treatment machine according to the present invention comprises the steps of: rotating a drum at accelerating speeds; rotating the drum at a constant speed after the rotation is accelerated; and calculating the amount of bubbles in the drum based on a gradient of the current command value of the motor for the drum′s rotation or a gradient of the output current flowing in the motor, during the constant speed rotation. Therefore, bubble sensing can be possible.
