<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize position detection using a scale of high manufacturing efficiency.SOLUTION: A position detector comprises: a tabular position detection scale member which includes a magnetic material, and includes waveform surfaces regularly repeating unevenness in a position detecting direction; and a magnetic sensor unit including magnetic field generating means for generating a magnetic field toward the waveform surfaces of the position detection scale member, and magnetism detecting means which is arranged between the magnetic field generating means and the position detection scale member and detects changes in magnetic flux density of the magnetic field. The position detection scale member is fixed on a surface of an object to be detected by making the waveform surfaces face outward, the object to be detected and a magnetic sensor unit are moved relatively while the magnetic sensor unit is arranged at a position facing the waveform surfaces of the position detection scale member fixed to the object to be detected, by which the magnetic sensor unit detects at least one of a position on the object to be detected which faces the magnetic sensor unit and changes of the position.</p> |
