PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grinding tool which has sufficient strength and abrasion characteristics and is capable of rough grinding and finishing of a hard workpiece.SOLUTION: A super abrasive product, e.g. a tool 10, provided with abrasive particle segment 18 composed of a super abrasive, includes a porous continuous phase containing a super abrasive particle ingredient and a thermoplastic polymer ingredient distributed with the super abrasive ingredient. The super abrasive precursor of the super abrasive product contains a super abrasive particle ingredient, a binder ingredient and a polymer foam agent of an encapsulated gas. A method of forming a super abrasive product includes a step of mixing a super abrasive, a binder ingredient and a polymer foam agent of an encapsulated gas to form the super abrasive product precursor, and the mixture of the super abrasive, the binder ingredient and the polymer foam agent of an encapsulated gas is heated, for a specified time, to a temperature at which at least a part of the encapsulated gas is discharged from the encapsulation in the foam agent. |
