<p>The tool 3 is used in a method for removing a pipe connector 9 from a conduit 12 without the requirement to isolate the conduit. The tool includes a connector-receiving portion 7 and a stem portion 5. The connector-receiving portion has an open-ended cavity 11 for receiving the connector and is adapted to operatively engage with a nut of the pipe connector. The stem portion extends from the connector-receiving portion and has a connection arrangement 13 by which the tool may be rotated. A cryogenic fluid pathway (30a, 30b, 30c, Figure 3) extends through the tool to one or more outlet apertures 32 within the cavity. The tool can be introduced over a pipe connector and the connector frozen by passing a cryogen through the fluid pathway. This isolates the pipe connector from fluid in the conduit. The pipe connector may then be removed, whilst retained within the tool, without the need for the frozen connector to be exposed. A flow of cryogen may be maintained throughout a removal procedure, so as to reduce any risk caused by thawing. An alternative tool includes a keyed formation in a connector-receiving portion to engage with an adaptor for a nut.</p> |
