摘要 A control system for a motor vehicle (100 see fig 1) comprises means for detecting a driver requested steering angle and means for inducing a turning moment on a vehicle andmeans for receiving a driving condition signal indicative of a driving condition. A net turning moment is adjusted in response to the requested steering angle in dependence at least in part on the driving condition signal. Preferable features include brake torque vectoring and powertrain torque vectoring. The system may operate in a plurality of control modes and may include a selector module 20, a subsystem controller 14. Respective levels of turning moment may be associated with different driving conditions. The invention preferably provides steering control where there is automatic or manual mode control via a switching unit 170 and in situations such as oversteer, understeer, towing, off-road operation and at different ride heights.
