1. A method for making a base-neutralized aqueous resinous dispersion comprising:
(a) adding a sulfur-functional azole to a pre-reaction product composition of a polyepoxide and phosphorus acid to form a composition comprising a reaction product of the sulfur-functional azole and the pre-reaction product composition; (b) adding a base to the composition after at least a portion of the sulfur-functional azole has been added; and (c) adding water to the composition after at least a portion of the base has been added to the composition.
