An apparatus for enhancing sound emanating from a speaker of an electronic device, the apparatus comprising: a front surface connected to a back surface with two or more sides, the apparatus adapted to receive the electronic device between the front surface, the back surface, and the two or more sides of the apparatus to at least partially enclose the electronic device when the electronic device is installed in the apparatus, the apparatus having a hard outer shell and a soft inner surface, the soft inner surface comprising a plurality of ribs to increase rigidity of the apparatus; and a waveguide within the soft inner surface, the waveguide comprising a trough formed in the soft inner surface between the ribs, the trough bounded by a back side surface of the electronic device along a length of the trough to form the waveguide when the electronic device is installed in the apparatus, the waveguide comprising a first end and a second end, wherein the first end of the waveguide is proximate the speaker of the installed electronic device and the second end of the waveguide is proximate at least one of the two or more sides, wherein the waveguide increases in cross-sectional area between the first end and the second end, and wherein the waveguide has a length (L) measured along a centerline of the waveguide between the first end and the second end of the waveguide.
