PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust emission control system that prevents electric leakage of an electric heating type catalyst.SOLUTION: In the exhaust emission control system 10, a switching device 16 switches energization and non-energization to EHC 12 from a battery 14 at a predetermined time interval with an input from an ECU 18. By this, a substrate 26 constituting the EHC 12 repeatedly expands and contracts to cause soot particulates 40 adhering to upstream and downstream sides of the substrate 26 to fall from the substrate 26, and discharges the soot particulates downstream of the EHC 12. Thus, EHC 12 is prevented from electric leakage due to the soot particulates 40. |
