The present invention relates to a method and an apparatus for estimating a position of a user in a building. According to the present invention, a method for estimating a position of a mobile terminal user in a building comprises the steps of: measuring a position of a user using a position obtaining apparatus based on a wireless communications or a global positioning service (GPS) apparatus of a virtual terminal; obtaining information related to movement of the user between the classes using at least one sensor included in the mobile terminal; and determining a class in which the user is located using the information related to the movement of the user between the classes and map information.
