The present invention relates to an air conditioner which transmits and receives data by changing a format of data to be changed as needed by corresponding to types of data when transmitting and receiving data between a plurality of air conditioning units, and to an operation method thereof. When transmitting and receiving data between air conditioning units of an outdoor unit and an indoor unit, various data can be transmitted and a structure of data can be changed by using the variable data structure. Accordingly, not only data communication according to a set communication period but data communication when an event occurs can be possible so that intercompatability between data is easily performed and network efficiency is improved. |
