The invention provides a device and a method for cleaning food. The device according to one embodiment of the invention comprises a providing unit (12), for providing alkaline water; and a humidifying unit (14), connected with said providing unit, for humidifying said alkaline water so as to generate alkaline mist and applying said alkaline mist to the surface of said food, whereby the residue on the surface of said food is hydrolyzed by said alkaline mist. The procedure of cleaning is safe and nontoxic for human beings; it saves water and does not destroy the nutrition, the appearance and the taste of the food. The device according to a preferable embodiment of the invention further comprises a heater (16), for heating the alkaline water to a predefined temperature, and the device uses heated alkaline mist to remove the residue, thus the hydrolyzation of the residue is accelerated. |
