<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanical seal in which the leakage of fluid caused by defect of a lubrication film between seal faces can be suppressed.SOLUTION: A mechanical seal comprises: a first sealing ring 11 having an annular first seal face at one axial-direction side; a second sealing ring having an annular second seal face which comes in slide-contact with the first seal face; and a plurality of coil springs which are arranged along the first sealing ring 11 in a circumferential direction, impart axial forces to the first sealing ring 11, and push the first seal face to the second seal face. The plurality of coil springs are partitioned into a plurality of groups each of which is constituted of the prescribed number of the coil springs which are aligned continuously in the circumferential direction, and in the first sealing ring 11, a first region K1 in which strain generated by the axial forces of the coil springs belonging to the groups becomes large, and a second region K2 in which the strain becomes smaller than that of the first region K1 are present alternately in the circumferential direction.</p> |
