<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutter bit which allows the frequency of replacement resulting from abrasion to be reduced and reduces the risk of damage to an excavator or the like. <P>SOLUTION: A cutter bit 1 is provided with a base material 10 and a blade material 20 fixed to the leading edge face of the base material 10. The base material 10 includes a recess 12 having an opening in the leading edge face, and a hardfacing or a hard tip is applied to the external face of the base material 10.
