The invention relates to an encapsulated nuclear fuel comprising: a pellet (1) of a nuclear fuel apt to produce heat by radioactive decay; a first metal jacket (2) providing protection against the gamma rays emitted by the radioactive decay of the nuclear fuel, this first jacket bounding a closed cavity in which the pellet is housed; and a second jacket (3) made of a composite material having a ceramic matrix, serving to protect mechanically the first jacket. The second jacket comprises modules that, once assembled, conjointly define a closed cavity in which the first jacket is housed, each module comprising two ends connected by a lateral wall extending around one axis of the module passing through the two ends, at least one of the two ends being a connecting end defining an aperture and allowing the module to be mechanically connected to the connecting end of another module, these two connecting ends overlapping in order to form a zone of overlap extending laterally around the axis of the modules and forming a male element and a female element, respectively.
|
