Provided is a vertical motion-type parking apparatus in which the rotational and horizontal movements of a pallet are combined to enable equipment and maintenance costs to be reduced. The vertical motion-type parking apparatus is provided with the following: a cage vertical motion path (2) in the center of a building; storage racks (6) for vehicles (13), the storage racks having multiple levels of horizontal movement pallet guides (7) that are provided in corners of the cage vertical motion path (2); and a cage (3) that causes a pallet (8) on which the vehicle (13) is placed to move horizontally to transfer the vehicle (13) between storage racks (6). The cage (3) includes a turntable (35) having a pallet vertical motion device (22) and a pallet rotation device (12) and also having an upward facing protrusion (19) in a corner. The pallet (8) is provided with a downward facing groove (10) extending in the lengthwise　direction over a required distance. The turntable (35) is provided so as to be vertically moveable between a high position, an intermediate position, and a low position.
