<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a swash plate type piston pump which is enhanced in operational reliability by a configuration for reducing a load on a bearing for pivotally supporting the rotary shaft of a rotary cylinder by applying, even when pressing force in the radial direction for pressing the rotary cylinder to the suction side by the pressure applied to the working fluid on the discharge side by the rotation of the rotary cylinder is caused, the canceling action. <P>SOLUTION: In the swash plate type piston pump, a groove 25 for discharge liquid is formed on the discharge side, and a groove 27 for suction liquid is formed on the suction side in the inner circumferential side surface of a housing 2 opposing to the outer circumferential side surface of the rotary cylinder 3, and a groove 28 for counter liquid is formed at the position opposite to the groove 25 for discharge liquid.
