The present invention relates to a vacuum cleaner, which comprises: wheels; a drive motor providing a driving force to the wheels; a clutch which either connects or releases the wheels and the driving motor. The main body of the vacuum cleaner actively operates by the driving force of the driving motor. When the driving motor is in a halt condition and the user manually moves the main body of the vacuum cleaner, the user can smoothly rotate the wheels without a detent torque of the driving motor by releasing a connection between the wheels and the driving motor. Moreover, the wheels have inner contacting gear and the inner contacting gear contacts to a transmission gear which transmits the driving force of the driving motor to the inner contacting gear; thereby increasing a space application by having a separate rotational axis for the wheel.
