<p>There is provided a cradle assembly 14 for attaching a unit 12 to an internal surface in a vehicle, comprising: a mounting plate for receiving the unit on a first side and for attaching to the internal surface using an adhesive on a second side, wherein the mounting plate comprises a stress point (59, figure 5) arranged to fracture if a removal force is exerted on the mounting plate higher than a predetermined threshold level, the force being less than the adhesive bond between the mounting plate and the internal surface such that when the force is exerted a portion of the mounting plate remains adhered to the internal surface and the mounting plate is broken. The unit and cradle may have first and second identifiers which can be transmitted to a remote data server, such as an insurance database, so that it is possible to tell when the two parts are correctly secured together. The stress point provides an anti-tamper facility so that the cradle may not be removed from the vehicle. A telematics system comprising said cradle assembly and a telematics unit is also provided as well as a method of manufacturing the cradle assembly.</p> |
