The present invention relates to the method for transmitting sound effect during a voice conversation, more specifically to the apparatus and the method for a user to transmit sound effect by playing appropriate sound effect for each emotion or situation during the voice conversation. The device includes: an interface providing part which provides an interface having more than one emoticons to a user in the voice conversation; a sound effect playing part that turns on the sound effect corresponding to a selected emoticon when the user selects one of the emoticons during the voice conversation; and a sound effect transmitting part which transmits a played sound effect to the terminal of an opponent. The present invention thereby enables users to transmit the sound effect representing their emotions to opponents at any desired point of time.
