A coordinate detection system (100) includes a coordinate detecting apparatus (120) that is mounted on a display apparatus (130), detects approach of an indicating object toward the display apparatus (130), detects a position coordinate of the indicating object on the display apparatus (130), and outputs a notice indicating the approach of the indicating object and the position coordinate; a contact detecting apparatus (140) that detects whether the contact detecting apparatus (140) is in contact with the coordinate detecting apparatus (120) and outputs a notice indicating contact or non-contact of the contact detecting apparatus (140) with the coordinate detecting apparatus (120); and an information processing apparatus (110) that includes a control unit (116) that, upon reception of the notice indicating the approach of the indicating object, determines whether the notice indicating the contact of the contact detecting apparatus (140) with the coordinate detecting apparatus (120) is received within a predetermined time, and issues an event indicating the contact of the contact detecting apparatus (140) with the coordinate detecting apparatus (120) when receiving the notice of the contact of the contact detecting apparatus (140) within the predetermined time.
