Disclosed is a method for playing a three-dimensional sound comprising: a step of obtaining a multichannel audio signal; a step of rendering a channel to be played in accordance with the information on and the frequency of the multichannel audio signal; and a step of mixing the rendered signals. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus for playing a three-dimensional sound is capable of properly playing the high component of the audio signals through a speaker arranged on a horizontal plane.
