A system and method for providing reliable storage are provided. A method for initiator operations includes storing information associated with an access attempt in a store, and accessing a storage system responsive to the access attempt, wherein the storage system includes a first storage node and a second storage node arranged in a sequential loop, and where the first storage node is accessed by an initiator. The method also includes determining if the access attempt completed successfully, deleting the information from the store if the access attempt completed successfully, and indicating an error if the access attempt did not complete successfully.

1. A method for initiator operations, the method comprising:
storing information associated with a write access attempt in a store; accessing a storage system responsive to the write access attempt by sending the information to a first storage node, wherein the storage system comprises the first storage node and a second storage node arranged in a sequential loop, and wherein the first storage node is accessed by an initiator; determining whether the write access attempt completed successfully, comprising:
determining that the write access attempt completed successfully upon receiving an acknowledgement from the second storage node; anddetermining that the write access attempt did not complete successfully when the acknowledgement from the second storage node is not received; in response to the write access attempt completing successfully, deleting the information from the store; and in response to the write access not completing successfully:
indicating an error;attempting to connect to the first storage node and the second storage node; andre-accessing the storage system in response to the attempting to connect succeeding.
